Deesons, Sun Street. Canterbury

http://www.deesonsrestaurant.co.uk/menu.php?id=1

What a yummy night had here!

Not the cheapest, but certainly a decent meal had by all. Service was excellent, albeit slightly slow. The food was exquiste, one to note was especially the duck.

The lovely thing about this resto is that all food is sourced locally. The only downside was that when visited on a busy night, it can get very loud, hard to hear your company speak.

Well worth a look in whilst in the Bubble, I'm one for supporting the locals.

As you can see, prices on the website too.

It's been a while!

Time flies when you're porking it up!

Hang on, that doesn't sound too good.

Sorry I've been away. Too much food, not enough time, I shall get around to reporting my next few findings in the next few days!

Whistable's Hotel Continental

http://www.hotelcontinental.co.uk/hotel/view/bar

What a beautiful place!

I was very impressed, nice location, right on the front, seats outside if you want to venture out into the sunshine to eat. A pretty view of Herne Bay's new windfarm.. which on a clear day is stunning.

It was very busy (probably due to the fact we visited on the Satruday afternoon of the Oyster festival). and was difficult to find somewhere to sit down. The staff were friendly and helpful... being so small there was a queue to be served, but I never mind waiting if they are polite and apologise.

They serve local Whistable Brewery beers which is well worth a taste, we started off on their local stout then moved onto the famous "Rasberry Beer". Fantastic... myself and 3 men all sitting there drinking pink beer! They also stock other local ciders and what not.

The menu was of your average pub kind. Burgers, Baguettes etc... with a few extra specials such as Moules Marinere. The lovely twist though, was that fact most meals are made in house... no deep freeze here! This always gets a thumbs up in my books.

We sat down and ordered a gormet "homemade" cheeseburger, and a steak and onion baguette with a side of onion rings and skinny frites, and boy were we in for a treat!

The baguette was out of this world the steak lightly peppered; medium rare with lashings of butter and caramelised onions. This was served with Kettle chips (yum!) and a fair sized salad. The burger was like a small mountain, packed full of salad to the point Mr Purist didn't know weather to eat it or take pictures! The onion rings, fresh and hand battered. We were very happy.

A lovely start to an evening out in Whitstable and highly recommended, not the cheapest... but jolly good value when you see the quality of the food.

A start... Table Table, Herne Bay

Table Table, Herne Bay.
www.tabletable.co.uk

What can I say about Table Table? Almost sad that I start this blog with a chain run resto... but still, it was an ok experience.

Easy to get to and simple parking, just off the Thanet Way. When we first arrived I was slightly worried that the car park was empty, and that the Harvester across the road was full. What was even more worrying is the fact i refuse to review the Harvester, I went there once.. never again!!! But that's another story...

Mr Purist and I were greeted at once by a friendly girl, and shown to our table in due course. Menus were allready on the table.

The main quabble we had with this place was the wait, considering it was not a busy night, and there seemed enough staff on we were made to wait ages. The drinks took a long time, the food even longer after ordering, and by then I had to stop myself from knawing my own arm off!

The food was good enough, the duck parcels to start were just the right amount, a good hint of ginger and not and hot.

The main course was not exactly what I expected. I ordered the chicken fajitas, which I do admit state on the menu they are coated with cajun spice. What I didn't expect was for it to burn my mouth off! There was nothing on the menu about it being hot hot hot!!

The waitress was not apologetic when I complained, and asked for a glass of milk. The meal would have been good enough if it wasn't for the hotness. I thoroughly enjoy a bit of curry, and spice... but when it ruins the flavour of the meal it's taking it a little too far!

Didn't stop for dessert, it looked nice but by then my stomach was crying at me, so i gave up. Was slightly frustrated when we (finally) got the bill... they'd actually charged me for the glass of milk! Chuh... how rude!

Overall an ok experience. £4ish for a starter, anything from £7 - 13 for a main course.

New to This...

Well, first of all... Thank you for taking the time to look at my blog.

I've decided to start this as normal person's view to what's hot and what's not for the eateries of Kent.

Every weekend Mr Purist and myself sit down and umm and ahhh about where to go for food, and to be honest, we can never find what we're looking for!!

We're a young couple, based in the east of Kent and enjoy our food a little too much. Every time we look in the papers, or on the internet we can never find reviews of where restaurants are, let alone if they are any good. It's the one main thing we enjoy the most, a pretty place, the ambience... let alone the flavours.

Because of this I've decided to report back on when and where we've been to eat.. and whether it's worth a look. Hopefully i'll be of help at least to one or two people in Kent... and take the frustration out of finding a good night out.
